Welcome!
St Andrew’s offers a very warm welcome to all newcomers and visitors. Our Sunday worship at 9.30am is a friendly, family‑focused service that combines modern and traditional elements, with something for every age and stage of faith. Light refreshments are available after most services, and you and your family are invited to stay for morning tea and conversation.
Worship Pattern and Locations
The 9.30am Family Service provides an opportunity to experience the presence of God in a relaxed, reverent setting. Music is usually provided by St Andrew’s Band, and songs and hymns are drawn from recognised songbooks and hymnbooks, with words displayed using PowerPoint presentations for ease of participation.
On the second, fourth and fifth Sundays of each month, the 9.30am service is held in the auditorium of St Andrew’s Centre, a modern space suited to contemporary worship and family gatherings. On the first and third Sundays, worship takes place in the heritage‑listed St Andrew’s church, where music is provided by the band or through traditional hymns accompanied by the organ.
Participation and Preaching
Members of the congregation participate in the service in various ways, including leading prayers and reading scripture passages that connect with the message of the day. The Revised Common Lectionary is often used as the foundation for each week’s worship, together with particular seasonal or thematic focuses that guide preaching and prayer.
Holy Communion
The Sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month at the 9.30am service. Everyone is welcome to share in Communion, regardless of denomination or background, as an expression of Christ’s grace offered to all.
Fellowship After Worship
Following the service, light refreshments are provided in the auditorium of St Andrew’s Centre. All are invited to remain for morning tea, conversation and the opportunity to welcome newcomers and catch up with friends.
Worship for Intellectually Impaired Adults
In addition to regular Sunday worship, there is a service for intellectually impaired adults on the first Friday of every month from 10.30am to 12.15pm. This is a full act of worship designed with special focus for this group, featuring dramas, lively singing, illustrated Bible stories and, following the service, a generous selection of refreshments provided by the congregation.
Other Special Celebrations
Special event services are held throughout the year to celebrate the diverse gifts within the worship and serving life of St Andrew’s Congregation. These include services for Easter and Harvest, St Andrew’s Day and Christmas, each offering its own style of music, liturgy and congregational participation.
